For a client, we supported the development of a proposal for coordinated explicit and implicit auctions of cross-border gas transmission capacity in Europe.
As part the project we:
- Identified and assessed the relative merits of alternative arrangements to improve integration within the European gas market
- Developed an auction design to simultaneously clear bids for gas with delivery in each market area and bids for explicit transmission rights between market areas, ensuring that available interconnection capacity is optimally allocated
- Drafted presentations of the proposal addressed to internal and external stakeholders
- Implemented the proposed mechanism through a fully functioning prototype of the auction clearing software
